Prospective jobs for XIV?

What are the jobs you are looking at playing in FF14? Personally, I'm looking at Archer, Lancer, and whatever happens to be Black Mage. And, of course, anything Blue Mage-esque down the road.

EDIT: Also Pugilist. Monk was my first FFXI job.

Gladiator and no joke the cook. I'm gonna max out cooking then make the basic sandwich. I will dominate the market on sandwiches.

I was mostly a mage player in XI so I'm looking to go a different route in XIV. Strongly favoring Paladin(ish) and Culinarian right now. Look out, Stratos, you might have some competition on sandwiches

Personally, I'll probably play Pugilist and just a bit of Culinarian if I get into the beta. Once things are wiped, I'll try out being a heal-bitch, whatever class that ends up being, and then probably work further into Culinarian.

Damnit, I liked Dragoons before they were cool.

I've always been a glass cannon man, myself, so Lancer. Dunno about a crafting class yet. If crafting is as frustrating as it was in FFXI I'll probably skip it. I'm really hoping FFXIV isn't as much of a frustrating, tedious grindfest as XI.

Well, Dragoon was my first 75, back while they wer lolDRG.

Archer, Marauder, and Hunter

Archer, Lancer, Black Mage and Blue Mage. Quite possibly in that order.

I'll probably end up playing a red mage or white mage, but I would like to try archer since I'm a rangerfag. I could also see myself playing some blue mage if they add it to XIV.

I want to play as the Black Mage equivalent, mostly I enjoy blowing mobs up.

Dark Knights need to come back too, so I can become Death, Destroyer of Worlds.

Praying to whatever god listening that there is a samurai or some job equivalent. /sigh

Not sure. I've been playing hardmode and leveling melee jobs as a Taru on FFXI. This time I may actually try some mage jobs. We'll see.

Pugilist for sure. Always been in Martial Arts so I always choose the hand to hand class in no matter what I play.

I'm going Archer. Bows aren't just for sissy nature elves. I'd hate to pay for individual arrows though. Maybe some 2 handed melee fighter.

Archer always really appeals to me in theory, but I've yet to find a video game that has created an archery class/mechanic that I can stay satisfied with.

From what I have seen/heard of FFXIV distance and positioning is going to be important. I assume an archer's range will be his asset in battle.

I've always thought implementing a precision "critical shot" system would be cool. Like a special attack that you can aim, and it would do different things depending on where it hit. Like, you're fighting an orc with your party, and you aim at his jugular vein. If it hits, he starts bleeding. But it's a small target, so it might miss and do significantly less damage. This would, of course, fail against a heavily armored opponent, like an orc with massive shoulder pads, but the system also allows a skilled archer to exploit weaknesses in that armor.

Just a thought.

I want to be something Piratey to be honest, though that probably won't work too well on land...

watching a galka skip and twirl around has got to be the manliest thing ever, plus i like support/healer classes

here's hoping for an equivalent in XIV
